The first week of the holidays saw us heading along to the Equilearn yard to have an extended session there. With the children enjoying tending to the horses and ponies and getting the opportunity to each ride a horse. Lots of fun had with a number of the children really facing their fears by getting on and riding the horses.
The following week we went on a trip to dynamic earth. A really informative trip for the children. Who enjoyed exploring the various areas and exhibits that it has to offer. A particular favourite was the cold iceberg room, with lots of chilly hands. Brrrrr!
Next up a day out ten pin bowling and grabbing a burger. This brought out the competitive nature in some of the children, and maybe the adults too. A fun activity for all.
As July came to a close, we travelled slightly further afield to Foxlake to do Foxfall. The group had an amazing time clambering and climbing around the various obstacles and facing their fears and occasionally falling in the water. Zip line was great fun! The children were supportive of each other giving each other lots of encouragement and working together. Lunch at McDonalds finished off a great day.
Our last trip of the summer and final activity for this group was a fringe day out. The children enjoyed going to Doktor Kaboom! A fun, exciting and informative show full of science and experiments and the occasional explosion.
What’s next for School’s Out
As the new terms has started, we have welcomed a new group of children to Schools Out, and this term we are working in partnership with Urban Uprising. This collaboration sees us attending alien rock with 8 children who have never experienced climbing before and giving them the opportunity to take part in a 10 week block of lessons with qualified and experience teachers. This gives the children a great opportunity to learn a new skill whilst facing fears, gaining confidence and working together. A real lesson in trust as they learn to support each other whilst climbing.
