Jay supported the group to have a go at putting together some of their own sketches, which were loosely based on the trials and tribulations of life, growing up and being a parent in Pilton, Edinburgh. Although, it cannot be said that life has always been easy, it was wonderful to hear the wails of laughter that frequently erupted from the group room as the group put their world in to song and rhyme.
Further excitement was then to come when Jay announced that she had pitched the group’s work to BBC Short Stuff Scotland. They turned out to have loved some of Young Parents ideas and had offered to send someone out to professionally film one of their sketches to hopefully be aired on the Short Stuff website.
Filming day arrived last week. It was a slightly chaotic process managing a film production, in a working office alongside providing childcare. However, the parents were fantastic and pulled it off. In less than a day the group room was transformed into a nail salon; and the ladies demonstrated their dedication and professionalism managing to juggle filming alongside meeting the needs of their children and most important having a lot of fun in the process. We are very excited to see what comes out of the filming and would like to thank Jay Lafferty for all her help in making this happen. Keep an eye on our social media platforms and we will let you know if and when the sketch will be released.
