At story time just now we are reading The Enormous Turnip, the children are given a piece of string to tie round the turnips as the farmer does in the story which helps immerse them in the story and to develop their fine motor skills. The purpose of reading the same story is to become familiar with it and learn new words. We also have purple and cream play dough for the children to try making their own turnips.

In our early years room at Muirhouse the children have been reading Shark in the Park. They are now starting to decorate and make their own telescopes just like the one the little boy has in the story.
